We will be adding events for the 2019 Spring/Summer Calendar as they are available.
Family Story Time: Please join us on Monday mornings 9:30-10:30 a.m. (until June 24, 2019) with your little one(s) for stories, rhymes and crafts. Adults can visit with a warm beverage while the kids listen to an entertaining story. Wrapping up the hour is an art-craft based off of the days theme (May theme is Dirt, Flowers & Bugs; June theme is Sun & Summertime Fun). We welcome children from birth to age 5 with their families. We look forward to seeing you. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the Orrington Public Library at 825-4938.
Book Ears: Book Ears is part of a national therapy dog reading program that we are very excited to take part in. The national name is called: Tail Waggin Tutors. We have decided to give ours an original Orrington name. “Book Ears” is honored to have a trained therapy dog whose name is Jade. Her handler is Sally.
On Tuesday afternoons (until June 11, 2019), the first hour (2-3 p.m.) Jade will be listening to our kindergarten students. The second hour (3-4 p.m.) is open to the public!! You must make an appointment by noon on Tuesday. Jade will be at the library every Tuesday from 3-4 p.m. for 15 minute appointments.
Please call the Orrington Public Library at 825-4938 if you have any questions or want to make an appointment with Jade.
Pokemon Club: Pokemon club is back at the Orrington Public Library! Bring your cards to have all out battle with other Pokemons. At least “friendly battles” …
Come join us every Wednesday (until June 5, 2019) from 3-4 p.m. We are excited to have our volunteer Chip McKnight back to oversee the battles and our new volunteer Kelli Shutts to host an extra day. We ask that everyone bring their own cards and remember, if you do trade they will be on your own discretion.
Who can attend Pokemon Cub? Any child over the age of 8 or grade 2. (If you do not have your own cards, the library has a few battle decks to borrow).
Please call the Orrington Public Library at 825-4938 to let us know your child will be attending, or if you have any questions. You will need to write a note each day your child stays for Pokemon Club. He or she will be dismissed to the Orrington Public Library. They will all meet in the gymnasium of the Center Drive School (once school is dismissed). Mr. McKnight will collect all the students at the end of the day (in the gymnasium) and walk them up as a group to the library.
Adult Knitting Club: Come join the fun on Wednesday mornings 9:30-11 a.m. (until June 26, 2019). All skill levels are welcome! Classes are free (please bring your needles and yarn for your project) with lots of one-on-one hands on instruction. We are honored to have talented Sue Violette as our instructor to help out with the beginners or intermediate knitters.
What are some of the things we will be knitting you ask? How about … hats, socks, mittens, scarfs, afghans, sweaters, and holiday knits just to name a few. Learn how to knit and felt slippers, hats, and handbags. Learn how to knit from simply garter stitch to lace. Learn how to read patterns and graphs. We will be knitting and anything in between!
We hope you will come learn the value of knitting with others. All skill level is welcome at any time. Learning how to knit will lead you to less stress and set your creative talent free.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call the Orrington Public Library at 825-4938.
